11th century castle in a privileged enclave of the Alt Empordà region, only 11 km from the sea. This historical listed property is atop a hill, attached on one of its lateral façades to the village church and tower. The views from the church square are beautiful, but from within one of the sitting rooms of the castle, looking out from a Gothic window, the surrounding countryside is absolutely breath-taking: rolling fields, noble woods and luxurious vegetation which hide the Fluvià river, with a background of light smokey-blue mountains afar. This rural setting, untouched, serene, beautiful, is crowned by this magnificent property.
Jointly with the castle there is a 17th century building, which is formed by three bodies, the main one and two lateral living areas attached to it, all of which add to 301,06 sqm living surface. The topmost floor is on the same level as the entrance to the castle.
Not more than 30 meters away there is another rustic stone property, completely detached, which is now uninhabited. This was the guard´s house. Although the interior of this house has preserved most of its original layout, there are quite a few simple brick walls on the ground floor which were erected when it was used as the stable and pen area for animals.The total living surface for this property is 318,98 sqm.
On the left-hand side of the boundary of the property we find a gorgeous traditional Catalan masia of great interest, in absolute ruin. At present, the layout is as follows: ground floor- main entrance hall, where there is the foyer by which one reaches three rooms, two used as pen areas and one as a storage room. This foyer also has a lovely run-down stairway which go to the first floor. There are two secondary entrances on the ground floor, one for the carriages (now cars and tractor), and the other for the pig barn. The north wing is made up by a haybarn with a separate entry.
On the first floor there is a lounge from which to access five rooms, a larder and the kitchen. One of these bedrooms has a large elongated terrace from which to enjoy great views. This terrace is built on top of the carriage area of the ground floor. There is also a small construction attached to the back of the house which has been identified as a bread oven. The total built surface is of 581.89 sqm. All the buildings forming part of the property (castle, house attached to fortified wall, guard´s house, and traditional masia, plus 9 hectares of land, some of it agricultural and others planted with noble woods such as walnut and cherry for carpentry purposes) include a complete restoration project which could be handed in for approval or modified depending on the uses assigned to the buildings.
